I had my son in August, and between recommendations from friends and hours of online research, the world of newborn essentials felt overwhelming. With so many baby products available, it’s hard to know what you really need!
I put together this list of the top 10 must-have baby products we actually still use and love. Each item earned its place in our home, makes life as a new parent easier, and is worth every penny. I’ve included links so you can check prices, read reviews, and find the best deals.
I hope this list is helpful for building a baby registry, preparing for a newborn baby, or for anyone searching for the perfect baby gift!
Sweet Dreams

- 2-Way Zip Ribbed Sleep & Play Pajamas: Two-way zippers are an absolute lifesaver during outfit and diaper changes (especially in the middle of the night).
- Love to Dream Swaddles: We tried SO many swaddles, and these quickly became our favorite. They helped our baby sleep better and we were a genuinely a little sad when it was time to stop using them.
- 4moms Breeze Plus Playard: It comes with a changing station, works as a bassinet for the first year, and later can be used as a playard.
Baby Care

- Haakaa Electric Baby Nail Care Kit: We took several birthing and parenting classes before our son was born, and our teacher warned us we’d need to trim baby nails every couple of days because they grow so fast. I truly thought she was exaggerating… she wasn’t.
- Ubbi Steel Diaper Pail: A true room / nursery essential, especially for the dirty diapers. It locks in odors really well!
Tech Essentials
- Nanit – The Best Sellers Bundle: Being able to see when he’s sleeping, awake, crying, or moving from our phones has given us so much peace of mind. Since we travel often as a family, the Flex Stand was a must so we could easily bring it with us.
- Hatch Home and Travel Sounds Machines: You can turn it on from your phone before you walk into the room so the space is already calm when you bring the baby in. The different nightlight colors are perfect for creating a cozy environment (we personally love the blue light).
Travel & Play

- Doona Cat Seat & Stroller: Pricey, but absolutely worth it for us. Being able to switch from car seat to stroller with the press of one button makes getting in and out of the car so easy. We traveled to Portugal for the holidays and the Doona made traveling with a baby feel so much more manageable.
- BabyBjörn Baby Carrier Mini: Perfect for contact naps, multitasking, walks, and keeping the baby close.
- Baby Activity Mat: Tummy time is so important during the first year and we love using this mat. Watching him learn to roll, reach and grab the toys over the last 5+ months has been so fun.
