How to Find the Perfect Lipstick

Lipsticks have always been my favorite makeup product (I am also pretty obsessed with Mascara too which you can read about here). Whenever I get ready, I always do my hair first followed by my makeup and then pick out my outfit. Based on my final look, I will then go into my ample lipstick collection (I have everything including MAC, YSL, NYX, Hermes, Nars, etc.) and pick out the color that will best match my outfit. I have been buying lipstick for over half of my life and can never get enough. There has been a lot of trial and error as there are a ton of things to consider.

Price: I have bought lipsticks that cost $5 and others that have cost $50. What I have found is a lot of the times you are paying for the brand name and not for the actual quality. There is nothing wrong with that as long as you’re aware (I have a few Chanel lipsticks that I’m obsessed with).

Color: Red has and always will be my favorite lipstick color. Pink is my second favorite! I have even wore black a few times and I must admit it’s pretty hard to pull off unless you have the perfect outfit for it (which I hope I did!).

Feel: Matte is by far my favorite type of lipstick. I think they are the ones that look the best and feel the best.

Durability: This is key. There is nothing worse than leaving your house with lipstick on just to have it come off in the first 10 seconds during a meal. You also don’t want to leave lipstick stains on your napkin or glass.

I have finally found the perfect lipstick (no, this is not an ad. I wish!). One of my best friends got married in 2019 and I was in her bridal party. She wanted everyone to wear light pink lipstick and one of her other bridesmaids suggested a Maybelline lipstick. I had never heard of it and decided to buy it. I was instantly hooked. In fact, I liked the price, look and feel so much that I ended up buying three other shades that same week. My favorite colors are bright red (Individualist), dark red (Pioneer), and dark pink (Pathfinder). Oh and did I mention that they are less than $8?! I hope you love them as much as I do!
